Mojtaba Khamenei has been named Iran's new supreme leader and successor to his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran's third supreme leader since its 1979 revolution has taken charge as the Islamic Republic confronts an existential battle. Large crowds took to the streets immediately to celebrate his selection by the Assembly of Experts.
