Chief of Defence Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force, Vice Admiral antonettewemyssgorman, continues to blaze trails for Jamaica and women in uniform across the Caribbean. A pioneer servicewoman in the JDF, she made history as the first female officer to attain a Flag rank in the force. The Vice Admiral was invited to the Turks and Caicos Islands by Governor Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Salvaratnam to deliver the keynote address at their Women in Uniform Brunch, held May 6, 2026, in celebration of International Women’s Day. Women serving in the TCI Regiment, Police Force, and Penal Institutions attended the event, alongside senior government officials including Minister of Education, Youth, Culture & Library Services Rachel Taylor and Deputy Governor Anya Williams.
