When I cause controversy, I would like to think it’s because I’m doing something right. The three words on my hoodie have sparked endless frenzy, commotion, and hatred amongst my page, my DM’s, and the likes. The conversations never get too far because I never engage. I never engage because I don’t feed into negativity. I made this hoodie because it was a truth that needed to be exposed amongst all the flawed and misleading stereotypes about our homeland. Africa is indeed rich and I become so confused when this statement causes others to spew evil words in my direction...but I suppose that’s what happens when I reveal a truth many refuse to believe. But let me just say this...if the masses think I will cower, shrink, or shut my mouth at the backlash of a little “controversy”, they are mistaken.
