Over the last week, Jarren Duran has represented the Red, White, and Green of Team Mexico very well in this year’s World Baseball Classic! Serving as the team’s leadoff hitter and starting right fielder, the Duranimal has put up video game like numbers throughout pool play.
Overall, in three full games played, he has hit an unworldly .500/.583/2.083, with a tournament leading three home runs, a double, and five RBIs. In addition to the numbers, he also has had some signature moments throughout pool play, including a three RBI game against Team Brazil, along with a two homer game against Team USA, a game which also included him throwing out fellow Red Sox Roman Anthony at the plate.
His play has help lead Team Mexico to a 2-1 record in the tournament, as they currently play Team Italy at the time of writing this, and sit just one win away from advancing to the quarterfinals, while also possibly knocking off the tournament favorites in Team USA depending on the run differential.
