For years, it was nearly impossible for women in Iran to play soccer because of modesty laws introduced after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In 2016, Lesley Stahl reported on efforts to grow the sport, led by soccer coach Katayoun Khosrowyar. When the team first formed, Khosrowyar said, "The passion, the integrity, the energy that they had, you know, I felt like I had to be here to help and promote this even more."
