If there was a foreign adversary behind mysterious brain injuries known as Havana Syndrome, then a former CIA officer, who asked not to be named, says their operation was a resounding success. “Let's say one of these cases was real, and it created all this fear, paranoia, anxiety here in the United States and overseas. The impact of that is astronomical,” says the former CIA officer, who investigated Havana Syndrome in 2021. “If it was the Russians, which I believe it is, I don't think that is something they would've put into their calculus, that it would've gotten this big. And I think they saw the fear, the paranoia that it created,” he adds. The Department of Defense declined to comment for this story.
