In my early days working at counter, department stores were all the rage. But is that an era that’s past its glory days? When I walk through a department store like this @Nordstrom 57th street in NYC now, I can’t help but feel like almost every brand and product is already available to me at places like Ulta and Sephora. (But there are some nuances with some super lux brands…) Even the “counter experience” is something you can find at other places now too, which is what they are doing in their beauty haven replicating more of the open sale environment. So it really makes me wonder, what actually makes a department store beauty experience different anymore? Especially triggers like lord and Taylor shutting down, signaling larger shifts happening with consumer behavior. I’m so curious to hear y’all’s opinions on this. Are you still shopping department store beauty? #thelipsticklesbians #makeup #departmentstore #beautytok
