"To me, civic learning at the University of Michigan means taking meaningful action and being actively engaged in my community. Over my four years at the U-M, I have been a leader in UMTurnOut, the GinsbergCenter, and UmichVotes, all of which have truly shaped my civil learning experience. As a Voter Participation Specialist trained by A2CityClerk, I supported same-day voter registration for my peers on Election Day in 2024 to reduce long lines. I also organized programs to celebrate civic holidays like National Voter Registration Day and Vote Early Day by tabling for hours, handing out donuts, and assisting fellow students with voter registration. Additionally, I had the opportunity to speak at conferences such as the Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement (CLDE) and the BigTen Voting Summit to share U-M’s innovative civic initiatives with students from across the country.
