BUDGET CUTS: The South Country School District is again warning it may have to cut staff to balance next year’s budget. At Wednesday night’s board meeting, Superintendent Antonio Santana said the proposal calls for eliminating 55 positions, including 43 teachers and five administrators. There were 53 jobs already cut last year as part of a three-year financial recovery plan. The district is also weighing a change to private school busing, reducing the eligibility radius from 25 miles to 15 miles, which would save about $900,000 but leave 121 students without transportation. Santana says he is committed to transparency and working with the community to put the district on a more stable financial path. . . . #News12 #News12LI #Brookhaven #Longisland #Education
