|| Fredy Montero, Ethan Dobbelaere, Paul Rothrock, and Reed Baker-Whiting scored for the Seattle Sounders as they beat San Diego Loyal 5-4 on Wednesday night at Starfire Sports Stadium in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. In the 15th minute, a clash in the eighteen-yard box resulted in a goal for the Sounders off a one-time finish from Montero. In the 26th minute, Montero contributed further to Seattle's offensive by delivering a through ball to Léo Chu on the left side of the field, who then crossed the ball over the goalkeeper's grasp and onto the feet of Dobbelaere, who slammed the back post to double Seattle's advantage. After failing to score in the first half, San Diego Loyal finally found the back of the net in the second half thanks to a penalty kick they were awarded for a handball inside the area in the 53rd minute.
