Anyone who has visited Masjid-e-Kufa knows it holds a story that sits deep in collective memory and grief. As part of my series on how physical spaces tell stories, I wanted to take a deeper look at the architecture of the mosque and how it became permanently etched into history—especially for Shia Muslims. I actually wrote my senior thesis on this, and it’s such a fascinating example of how mosques are built not just for prayer, but to nurture social life, discussion, and community. #shia #iraq #history
