Bills to deal with penniless cash transactions have passed both Arizona chambers and await Governor Katie Hobbs’ signature. The state’s HB2938 says that if pennies are not available, retailers will round to the nearest 5-cent increment. Similar bills to Arizona’s are being considered in Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington. Some states are proposing to allow businesses to round cash purchases, while others consider requiring it.
