Western Oregon's mighty, moody, beloved forests need your voice! Up to 2.5 million acres of public lands in Western Oregon are at risk of being logged due to a new Trump administration plan. In 2016, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (mypubliclands) abandoned the Northwest Forest Plan and began to aggressively log mature and old-growth forests. Fast-forward to now, the second Trump administration just proposed a new plan to more than quadruple the amount of logging to 2.5 million acres of public land in Western Oregon. The majestic old-growth forests of the Pacific Northwest are precious. They're home to endangered species, they filter our air and water, and absorb and store vast amounts of carbon dioxide. Mature and old-growth forests are also more fire resilient. This reckless proposal will increase fire danger for Oregon communities, destroy recreation areas, and accelerate the climate crisis, all to enrich the timber industry.
