Yesterday the Center and our allies sued the Interior Department for a massive public lands giveaway in Alaska. The Interior Department just opened up 2 million acres of public lands to industrialization in an attempt to fast-track the controversial Ambler Road project. These lands had been protected for more than 50 years and subject to federal oversight that intended to ensure Arctic health. To make this happen, the Department unlawfully removed federal protections from public lands in an area stretching from the Yukon River to the Brooks Range. Not on our watch. So, we joined forces with nine other groups to challenge this decision and tell the Department: Hands off Alaska's public lands. “The Trump administration has violated the law and gambled with Alaska’s future by scrapping these vital public lands protections,” said Rebecca Noblin, a senior attorney at the Center.
