Roman Anthony entered his first Spring Training thinking he’d be spending the next month in Fort Myers to prepare for his first full major league season with the Boston Red Sox. Now? The 21-year old is in Houston, sitting just three wins away from a World Baseball Classic tournament title on Team USA.
Some circumstances would create the opportunity for Anthony to join the roster, where he took it, and has flat out ran with it. In four games played thus far as the team’s starting left fielder, the Roman Empire has batted .333/.474/1.007, collecting five hits and six RBIs, a stat that leads the team, showing that the lights are never too big for him.
