Weekends are for haircuts 💇⁣ Life on the International Space Station is full of science, but everyday tasks need to be done, too. On the weekends, crew on the orbital laboratory take care of housekeeping and other chores like giving each other haircuts. Here, NASA astronaut Jessica Meir trims the hair of fellow NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway. She's using an electric razor attached to a vacuum that collects loose clippings.⁣ During training, astronauts learn how to brush their teeth, shower, shave – all the self-care we do on Earth – in space. Since they're in microgravity, hair clippings, water, or toothpaste would be loose and free-floating.
