What a wild few weeks it’s been in our new old house! I’m pleasantly surprised by how many things are still in good condition, but of course, there are always some repairs to tackle. This week’s project was the basement, which turned out to be quite the adventure. It was damp and musty, and while we knew about two big sump pits, we uncovered another hidden beneath a tin sheet! 😭 We also found a hatchet tucked away overhead (so safe!) and another skeleton key. The silver lining? No mold! We quickly called in
@aquilinacontracting to get our basement waterproofed. However, we had to clear out a lot of leftover items from the previous owners, which sadly had to be demolished due to moisture.
Here are some highlights and lowlights from the week. Overall, I’m so relieved we got the waterproofing done—it looks so much cleaner now, and I don’t even mind going down there!
