Two marsupial species believed to be extinct for over 7,000 years have been confirmed alive in New Guinea, according to The Bishop Museum in Honolulu. The pygmy long-fingered possum and ring-tailed glider were previously known only from fossil evidence discovered in the 1990s. The animals are now classified as “Lazarus species,” a term for organisms that reappear after being thought extinct. #posts #news #popculture
