Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations said that his country was ‘not going to close the Strait of Hormuz’, a narrow and economically important waterway on the Persian Gulf. Amir Saeid Iravani however stressed to journalists at the UN headquarters in New York that it was Iran’s ‘inherent right’ to defend itself against aggression.
