The long-awaited Las Vegas Museum of Art (LVMA) is set to become the city’s first freestanding art museum, with an anticipated opening in 2029 in Symphony Park downtown. Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Diébédo Francis Kéré, the 60,000-square-foot building draws inspiration from the Mojave Desert, local modernist architecture, and the surrounding Red Rock landscape, featuring striking stone façades, an expansive shaded plaza, and a dramatic canyon-like central staircase leading to airy upper galleries. The museum, a public-private initiative backed by The Elaine P. Wynn and Family Foundation and in partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), aims to serve Las Vegas residents and millions of visitors each year while anchoring a new cultural era in the city’s arts scene.
