The city of Charlotte has a special connection to the show, as it follows the life of the queen, who Charlotte, North Carolina, is named after. Titled “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” the six-episode limited series stars India Amarteifio as the young queen and Corey Mylchreest as her husband. King George III still ruled the Colonies when European settlers chartered the town in 1768. They named the new hamlet after the King’s wife, Queen Charlotte, and gave the surrounding county the name of Mecklenburg in honor of her majesty’s birthplace in Germany. Residents of the Queen City have a tie to the show, knowing that our city is loosely represented in the spin-off.
