Last night we opened a powerful new FREE exhibition at the Las Vegas Civic Center Gallery. 🎨 “Rhythm and Resilience: Black Vegas” explores African American life in Las Vegas from the city’s earliest days through the 1980s, highlighting the challenges of segregation while celebrating the creativity, strength and achievements that helped shape our community. ✨ From the story of John Howell, the first Black settler in Las Vegas, to the rise of the Historic Westside as a vibrant cultural hub filled with businesses, music, nightlife and civil rights activism, this exhibit honors a legacy that continues to influence our city today. 💫 The exhibition is curated by Carmen Beals and narrated by Claytee White. 🎭 Step into history and explore a community’s journey of strength, music and movement at the Las Vegas Civic Center Gallery, 525 S.
