Newton and Bobby Seale. We are reminded today of the determination and tenacity of these young men who said in 1966 “We Want Freedom. We Want Power to Determine the Destiny of Our Black Community.” Huey was only 24 and Bobby was 29 when they founded the Party, but they were backed by many other rank-and-file Panthers, in which the average age was 19. This was a youth movement that organized Black and oppressed communities across the world and fought tooth and nail for revolution in their time. To this day, the Ten Point Program remains an inspiration to our movements because the struggle continues long after the Panthers created the blueprint for us to follow and build upon."
