#repost jotakaeaddy Black women are often subject to overt and subtle disrespect - especially from women who don’t share our culture or struggle. I am grateful for rooms like this, in which I am reminded of my voice and power. Within hours of these words and being honored by blackenterprise with the Luminary award before a room of more than 2000 women of power- I found myself in a deeply concerning conversation with a business colleague- in short the woman, in the presence of my staff, raised her voice and proceeded to address me in a disrespectful manner. In that moment, I had a choice — 1. Let it ride and keep moving. 2. Immediately address the disrespect and make clear that it would not be tolerated.
