He was seated in the audience for “The Music of Billy Joel,” a star-studded charity event featuring 20 acts performing songs from his catalog and backed by Joel’s touring band. One hundred percent of net proceeds from the event will go to music education for underserved youth programs in NYC and beyond. It was a rare public appearance for Joel, who announced that he had been diagnosed with the brain disorder normal pressure hydrocephalus and needed to cancel all his upcoming performances.
