Before having kids, I had this idealistic picture of what having a baby would be like— rainbows, butterflies, and immediate overwhelming joy. When reality clashes with your expectations, it can make you feel so alone. 11yrs ago, social media wasn’t what it is today. I hadn’t heard of Postpartum Depression before nor did I know anyone personally who had ever been depressed. I truly believe that if just one person would have told me that I wasn’t alone in my experiences, that the first few months are tough but it gets better- it wouldn’t have gotten so bad.
