Loose stools aren’t always IBS.
And it’s not always anxiety either. When the gut is irritated or inflamed, transit time speeds up.
Food moves through too quickly, which means poor absorption of nutrients and water. This often happens when bile flow is low, the gut lining is compromised, inflammation is present or the nervous system is stuck in a chronic stress response. So instead of digesting and absorbing properly, food rushes through. Loose stools aren’t just inconvenient.
It’s information. A sign that your gut needs stabilising, soothing and support, not restriction or food fear. To support loose stools properly, focus on this:
• Include bitter foods with meals to stimulate bile (TUDCA or Bitters can also be helpful)
• Include some fat at meals to stimulate bile flow and improve digestion
• Prioritise easy-to-digest proteins to support gut repair (slow cooked meat)
• Support the gut lining with nourishing, low-irritant foods
• Balance your nervous system: digestion only work...
