I used to want to help everyone.
Show up for everyone.
Carry everyone.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I wasn’t helping myself.
Eventually, that caught up to me.
I had a conversation with a friend once. She told me her favorite person in the world used to be her sister.
Until she noticed a pattern, whenever her sister was upset with her, or something went wrong between them, it would completely throw her off.
Her mood. Her energy. Her peace.
I told her something that had been saving me.
I call myself MRfavorito.
Not out of ego. Out of responsibility.
It’s a reminder that I have to be my own favorite person first. Because when I don’t take care of myself, I start depending on other people for validation, stability, and peace. That’s a weight no one else is meant to carry.
