Manyatta is a definition that includes many concepts, it describes the traditional home and village of the Maasai people but it is much more, it is a place of aggregation, shelter for people and livestock, it is a place of worship and ceremonies, the fulcrum of their community, place of belonging and welcome. The Manyatta is made up of several traditional houses that surround a cattle enclosure. The houses are made of mud, with thatched roofs made of grass or palm leaves; built in a circular pattern, with each house having its own entrance. The Masai people are a semi-nomadic ethnic group that lives in some remote parts of Kenya and Tanzania.
