Simple mural idea with tips! Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective. So my top tips for painting a mural for the first time are - > Choose a simple organic shape, like leaves or even a blob! Then there’s no ‘right’ shape because nature is imperfect! > Draw it on the wall in pencil first and keep standing back to check for scale and placement. > Using paint tester pots will save you lots of money. > If the paint feels too thick to get a smooth brushstroke water it down with a tiny bit of water. > When painting the outline apply medium firm pressure on your brush and move it slowly, so that you can get a really sharp line. Don’t worry, you can fill it in with much faster lighter strokes. > Apply two or three thinner coats, rather than one thick blobby one. > Don’t worry if you make a mistake - you can always paint over it!
