Some images as a photographer…you just can’t believe they don’t get published. Perhaps if you knew how this was captured you might appreciate it more? I’ve never posted this image, and it was captured in December 28th of 2022, a deep and trackless morning. On this particular day, I ventured out to capture something unique, a first-person perspective of skiing powder. I’ve attempted to capture this image multiple times before, and multiple times after, to no avail. With the shutter speed set to 1/50th second (aka: very slow), I intended to ski as close to athlete Powell Eastman pow_ell as possible. Absolutely, nearly, impossible. So god damn hard. Literally my knees…MCL, ACL, and ACHILLES, are grimacing within the simple memory of barely holding on while dodging trees and quickly adjusting based on Powell’s movements.
