I’ll say it, time and time again, landscape photography isn’t about what’s in the frame, but more so what you leave out of the frame. Last fall I captured this image at sunset in Colorado, a 4 image panoramic via my Mavic Pro 3 Drone: RAW | ISO 200 | 1/500th sec | f/5.0 Shooting anything backlit is going to help create a magical mood within your images, whether portraits, landscapes, or action sports images. This photograph was captured during peak foliage, however the sunset only intensified the colors that evening, the dramatic orange clouds reflecting even more gold light downward onto the scene. The light was unbelievably breathtaking for about 10 minutes, it didn’t feel real to be honest. Within this composition, I chose to crop out the horizon, not showcasing any sky, and thus directing the viewers eye exclusively into the depth of backlit Aspens.
