Winter days and summer nights, seasonal transition in Alta, Utah. ✨
A couple nights ago I took a little walk to capture a sunset landscape. About halfway I noticed a thick cloud bank rolling in. More than likely I would get skunked, not even pulling out my camera to shoot. I hesitantly decided to keep walking. Along the way with only a few minutes to spare before I lost the light, I stumbled upon this location I hadn’t planned to shoot. It was then I remembered this summer landscape captured back in 2020… since then I’ve had this seasonal collage on my mind.
With fleeting light, I quickly improvised and set up a few different compositions based on memory (without referencing the summer version). Often times it’s best to work with what you’re given, to go with the flow. That’s what I love about shooting landscapes.
Anyway, I really enjoyed shooting this, and editing this today, stoked to share it with you. Such a dramatic comparison, the seasons are a beautiful thing. 🙏🏻
