Stewed fruits on oatmeal should be your absolute go-to this autumn/fall 🍁🍂
Why?
Not only do they taste incredible, but when you stew fruits like apples and pears — both rich in a type of soluble fibre called pectin — the process helps the pectin to become more available and the fruit easier to digest.
Combine it with warming spices and you’ve got something ideal to start your day 🥣
Ingredients:
- 1 medium-ripe pear
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
For the oats:
- 3/4 cup oats
- 1 cup milk (+add water for desired consistency)
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 scoop protein powder (optional)
- 1 banana
Method:
- De-core your pear, and then chop into cubes
- In a frying pan, heat up your coconut oil and add your maple syrup and cardamom
- Add in your diced pears and coat thoroughly
- Reduce to medium heat, add a splash of water and cover with a lid to stew for 8-10 minutes
