If I had ADD… here’s what I would NEVER do.
These 5 habits, shared by psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, are a wake-up call for all of us, especially parents.
Because it’s not just about managing ADD or ADHD in ourselves.
It’s about what we model for our children every day.
Here are 5 things to avoid if you (or your child) live with ADD/ADHD:
1. Don’t be sedentary.
Movement is medicine. Exercise helps all 7 types of ADD.
2. Don’t get addicted to your phone.
Gadgets steal dopamine — and ADD is a dopamine-deficit disorder.
3. Don’t overload on carbs.
Sugar, bread, pasta, juice — they raise serotonin and drop dopamine. You can’t focus, and worse: you stop caring.
4. Don’t take someone else’s medication.
Wrong treatment = more anxiety, irritability, and broken trust.
5. And never, ever give up.
With the right approach, healing is possible — for adults and for kids.
At Fatherly Mind, we believe emotional health starts with awareness — and love in action.
