When emotions get triggered in an argument, logic stops working. In a triggered state, overgeneralization often takes over. Statements like “you never listen” or “you always hurt me” are not about facts. They are emotional echoes from earlier wounds where someone felt unseen, unheard, or unsafe. At that moment, the conversation is no longer happening in the present. A younger part of her nervous system has come online and is reacting from memory, not reality. Trying to debate facts or defend yourself only escalates the emotion. Logic feels like invalidation when someone is emotionally flooded. The only way forward is regulation before resolution. Calm the emotion first. Create safety. Slow the moment down. Once the nervous system settles, clarity returns and real communication becomes possible. Trying to win an argument with logic while someone is emotionally activated will always fail. Emotional safety opens the door. Reason only works after. #EmotionalIntelligence #Relationship...
