Alchemy series explores the digital transmutation of pictures taken from art history and its impact on current painting and contemporary image production. I select images from the history of painting and modify them using software that simulates glitchs (visual errors in digital file transmissions on the Internet) that alters and corrupts the original source, generating new images re-contextualized in the present. I take the images as a reference and paint them using techniques (traditional primer, underpainting, second layer and glazes) and materials (rabbit skin glue, Spanish white, lead stack white and other historical pigments and earths) from the old masters, returning the painting once altered to its original state.
