Earth day tomorrow, a Monarch caterpillar up close and personal today. Monarch butterflies had their numbers decimated by wildfires across California. So we have 30+ milkweed plants to do our part in helping them recover their population. Already there are so many caterpillars big and small, a great sign of things to come for 2020. A few years ago a lot of our (asshole) neighbors cut down their trees because they got sick of paying to maintain them, the birds disappeared. So we constructed a massive bird feeder, installed nests and now the yard is sort of a bird sanctuary with over 8 different species of birds and over 200+ individuals, and growing fast. They consume over 20lbs of birdseed per week. We love hearing about all the bird poo complaints from over the fences. :).
