Debating over what works: Insulin model or CICO? 🤔
Understanding the Insulin model 👇🏻
Most of the people nowadays have a fair idea that in T2 Diabetes, one's body becomes incapable of utilising the insulin produced by their pancreas 💁🏻♂️
The insulin model points us towards a rather interesting junction of biochemistry inside our body, stating that if one's body starts to increase fat deposition, there is a decrease in freely available fuel (glucose) present in our blood stream. The fuel is stored in fat cells (adipose tissue) which is not easily usable.
The CICO model is a reverse Uno card of the insulin model. Here, it's bluntly believed that calories matter and as long as one undereats, they will lose weight because it's simple physics:
Calorie intake - Calories expenditure = Increase in body fat 😣
If you eat too many carbs, the body can certainly utilitise these. But one must understand that these carbs are highly palatable and overeating can be probable consequence of t...
