Oh! Hey there. Short answer, no, it doesn’t. BUT… they can both happen at the same time giving an impression. It’s a myth we dispel regularly enough… If you’re training and eating at roughly a maintenance level (expending the same as what you’re taking in) you might be also putting on muscle or maintaining it, then for what ever reason you reduce or stop training, but continue to eat similar amount of calories (or more). Then over time your muscle may reduce (because like your body adapts to what you do by training, it also adapts to what you don’t do - use or lose it if you will) If you’re not training, reducing muscle and eating an amount that puts you in a surplus. Then it’s a case of muscle reducing due to detraining, and increasing body fat due to eating in a surplus, giving the impression muscle turns to fat.
