The Musalla Minarets of
#Herat, standing at more than 55 metres high, are all that remain of what was once a brilliantly decorated complex for Islamic learning and devotion built by Queen Gawhar Shad in the 15th century on the
#SilkRoad on the outskirts of city.
Most of the camel-colored mud-brick towers, which were once sheathed in sparkling blue, green, white and black mosaic tiles, have toppled during decades of war and neglect. 📷: khyberkhaan
