What a wonderful half-term holiday on the island of Crete š¬š·āļø We stayed at Village Heights Resort, tucked away in the mountainsāa peaceful, tropical-feeling escape surrounded by butterflies, olive trees, and fresh herbs growing in the gardens. One of the pools is heated (perfect for shoulder season), and thereās even a little cat cafĆ© the kids fell in love with šāā¬
The a la carte restaurant, Rodies, served genuinely great food. The buffet was fairly average, as is often the case at family resorts. The location is ideal for families wanting a break from the busy tourist townsāsuper peaceful and a great base if you hire a car (which Iād recommend). Some of the best Greek food Iāve had was in local tavernas in the nearby mountain villages. And Sissi is well worth a visitāa picture-perfect harbour with lovely restaurants and bars on the water.
