Even now, I still have to remind myself to properly engage my core, especially during floor exercises. It’s not about perfection. It’s about awareness. If your deep core isn’t switched on, pressure builds outward through your tummy. This is what causes that doming or bulging you may see during movement. That’s your body telling you: support is missing. Here’s how I check and reengage my core: Lie on your back with knees bent, feet flat. Take a wide inhale into the sides of your ribcage , not your tummy As you exhale, imagine zipping up from your pubic bone to your ribs. Lightly draw your lower abs inward , like tightening a seatbelt. At the end of the exhale, gently lift through your pelvic floor. No force, no clenching , just gentle activation and control.
