Why I turned down offers at big corporations and joined a startup after college 🤝 TLDR: 1. Cultural fit > Brand name (there are many other ways to build your personal brand and competency besides having a sticker on your resume that says “I worked for XYZ”). Besides being able to “do the work”, enjoying the culture and people is a huge part of your energy because you’re spending 1/3 of your day there. 2. Startups are great environments for people who enjoy new things, new tech, solving old problems in new ways. Always changing, always moving. 3. Startups are a fantastic learning experience for those who want to take things from 0 to 1 instead of building on top of something that already has a legacy.
