creative careers are really hard & so I’ve been spending more time thinking about how I can be a force for good beyond the work itself. emmanoyesmaybe and I met as sorority sisters harvard and serendipitously reconnected last year after getting listed next to each other (literally) on the forbesunder30 list. It sounds crazy, but there was something just precious about that. Familiarity in the cacophony. I had followed her impressive journey as an author and was amazed by the way she wrote about her own hard truths and also brought back the very best of the fantasy we all grew up enamored with (particularly the vampire diaries, duh). I found my way back to books recently through fiction & it’s given me deep appreciation for the artists who take us out of our own worlds and rivet us into ones they dream up, somewhat impossibly from thin air.
