It’s all about the little details. We love this flush hearth detail and use it in many of the homes we design. In this locally listed Victorian house, reinstating period features like the Carrara fireplace was key but so was making the space work hard for a busy young family. A flush hearth means the floor remains fully usable, allowing chairs to glide across it, while still functioning safely when the fire is in use, thanks to a cast concrete base beneath.
