In a remarkable act of honesty, Haji Akhtar Khan, a scrap dealer from Faridabad, Haryana, returned gold jewellery worth approximately ₹15 lakh to its rightful owners after they had accidentally sold it to him as junk The Discovery: Khan found a small box containing 100 grams (about 10 tolas) of 22-karat gold while sorting through accumulated scrap in his warehouse. The Mistake: The owner, Ashok Sharma , had hidden the jewellery in a sack of old items to protect it from theft before leaving for the Kumbh Mela in January 2024.
