Death Acre Probably the World’s Most Dangerous Overlanding Road Known as “The Graveyard for 4x4s,” Death Acre is a legendary challenge for overlanders. This treacherous trail along a tilted beach forces drivers to race against the rising tide. With the ocean on one side and loose sand on the other, even the most capable rigs face relentless tests. Our journey started an hour late, forcing us to camp in front of Baia dos Tigres island, just meters from where we would attempt the climb up the dunes. It was an improvised camp—sleeping in roof tents wasn’t an option due to strong inclination. At 5 am, we began the most dangerous stretch of Death Acre. With no margin for error, we found ourselves driving in the ocean at times, navigating a narrow strip of dry sand between waves.
