RUTS Driving this road along the CKGR, we had two problems. The first one was that the track hadn’t been driven in a while. You can see on one photo the difference between the undriven track and after I tried to drive it. The problem is not so much that we could not drive it but how much fuel did we need to drive it. The second issue was the ruts made by larger trucks. It’s not the first time we experience those type of ruts. Once again, if you don’t have choice and have to drive those tracks, you will have two ruts that are much wider than your car. This will have a huge impact on your fuel consumption. In the end, due to the very low progress that day, we had to wild camp along the track. Matthias lostreception.eu even broke his spare wheel carrier. We could fix it by tightening the latch but from now on, Matthias will have to drive more “smoothly”. This was one of our best tracks in Botswana. Heavy on our fuel consumption but totally worth it.
