WHALE WATCHING IN ICELAND
Due to bad weather, we could not take the faster rib boat. The main advantage of the rib boat is that you usually get closer to the whales and spend less time repositioning.
Iceland being just 50 km from the Polar Circle, even in May, the temp was 3 degrees Celcius but felt like -3 (37 F feeling 26 F) due to strong winds.
We saw only sperm whales but plenty of them.
Sperm whales range from 12 m (37 ft) for the females to 18 m (60 ft) for the males weight between 14 to 41 tons. (31,000 lb to 90,000 lb).
